Town repaving school parking lot

The town is preparing for the first of a two-phase project to repave the Burlington High School parking lot. The $1 million project involves a complete reconstruction of the lot, according to town engineer Thomas Hayes. Because of the size of the lot and the need to confine the work to summer when school is out, the project was split into two parts. The first will be carried out this summer and the second in the summer of 2014. Hayes said town workers resurfaced the driveway about 10 years ago, but the rest of the lot has not been repaved since well before that time and is in “really bad shape.” The project is being funded with part of a $3 million bond approved by Town Meeting last year for road and parking lot improvements.
