The town’s Water Division is conducting its annual water pipe flushing program. The flushing is done each spring to remove sediment that has settled in the system during the past year. This year’s program began last Monday, and is expected to take about four weeks to complete. The flushing started in the northern part of town at the Middleton line and will gradually move in a southeasterly direction, ending in Danversport. A weekly schedule is being posted on the Department of Public Works page on the town’s website, www.danvers.govoffice.com. Officials said that residents might notice some discoloration of their water while pipes in their neighborhood are being flushed. Running cold water for a few minutes will clear up the discoloration. Any problems should be reported to the Water Division at 978-762-0230.
