Residents can join in a townwide celebration of Earth Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the town common at Town Hall. Organized by the Recycling Committee, the event is free and open to all. A variety of green-oriented organizations, businesses, and town boards will be on hand to provide information and displays on environmental topics, and on their products and services. The event will also feature food, music, and face painting. Meanwhile, incumbent Todd R. Johnson and James D. Wentworth were the winners of a six-way race for two seats on the Board of Selectmen in the annual town election April 6. In other contests, incumbent Kristen M. Polimeno and Lisa J. Puccia won the race for two School Committee seats, while Christine E. Kinnon and Phillip L. French were the victors in a contest for two seats on the Board of Health. Raymond M. Barry won the race to fill the remaining two years on a vacant Board of Health seat, and Patricia M. W. Meuse turned back a challenge to retain her seat on the Shawsheen Regional Technical School Committee.
