The Peabody Institute Library has been selected to participate in a national program aimed at familiarizing the American public with Islamic beliefs, practices, and culture. The library is one of 843 libraries and humanities councils selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association to receive “Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys,” a collection of 25 books, four DVDs, and other programming resources selected to help US audiences become more familiar with Islam around the world and within the United States. The materials are available the main library, 82 Main St. The library is also planning a series of special events in May that will feature titles from the Muslim Journeys bookshelf. Included are film discussions and a scholar-led discussion series. For more information, go to www.peabodylibrary.org or contact Kelley Rae Unger at 978-531-0100, ext. 17, or unger@noblenet.org.
