Rockport residents approved a fiscal 2014 operating budget of $25 million and voted to allow selectmen to determine terms of leases of town-owned property on Long Beach as part of the annual Town Meeting April 6. A total of 301 residents dispatched 37 articles in five hours and 33 minutes, including approving a capital outlay of $2.8 million that contained $1.1 million for technology. Included in that was $485,000 for computers, storage, and printers, and $110,000 for school security and fire alarm upgrades. In addition, a proposal to change the date of annual Town Meeting failed. The article sought to change the date from the first Saturday in April to the first Monday evening in April.
