About $2 million in repaving work will be undertaken in Burlington this year, according to town engineer Thomas Hayes. Contractors will repave all or portions of 17 roads. Twelve roads will undergo simple resurfacing while five are being reconstructed. This year’s program also involves microsurfacing, or maintenance work, on about 18 roads. Less extensive than regular repaving, microsurfacing involves resealing cracks and applying a thin surface layer. The town was set to open bids this past Friday. Work is expected to begin in mid-June and to be completed by mid-September. The program will be funded through a combination of town funds and money allotted through the state’s Chapter 90 local road improvement program.
