The North Andover Joint Speaker Series is sponsoring an upcoming workshop on anxiety and depression in children and teenagers. The workshop, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. May 7 in the North Andover Middle School auditorium, 495 Main St., will cover the thought and behavioral patterns that predict depression and anxiety in children and teenagers; what works for the long-term prevention of anxiety and depression; and how to teach and model the skills that lead to better mental health in children. The event will feature Lynn Lyons, a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who lives in Concord, N.H., where she is in private practice. Now in its fourth year of offering informative speakers for parents, the North Andover Joint Speaker Series is supported by the town’s parent-teacher organizations and parent advisory councils, North Andover Youth and Recreation Services, North Andover Community Programs, and the Building Respectful Communities Committee. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information, e-mail the North Andover Speaker Series at firstname.lastname@example.org.
