Community resource office opens

The Police Department recently opened a community resource office. Located at 6 Pleasant St., the substation is intended to help the department work more closely with residents and businesses to identify and address public safety issues. Also as part of that effort, the department resumed foot patrols on Broadway about a year ago and plans to initiate bicycle patrols throughout the city this summer. Officials noted that the satellite office is set up to handle nonemergency business and that the public should continue to contact the main police station or dial 911 in an emergency. Mayor Daniel Rizzo and Police Chief Joseph Cafarelli were among those at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new office on April 24.
