YMCA chosen for ethnic health initiative


The Merrimack Valley YMCA has been selected as one of only 16 in the nation to participate in an initiative spearheaded by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called REACH — Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health. the initiative is supported by a cooperative agreement of up to $4 million per year to support programs that improve health and lower disparities related to chronic illnesses in African-American and Hispanic communities. Participating communities and partners use a variety of strategies in their work, including counseling and education and systems and environmental changes.
