Chamber of Commerce honors businesses


The Salem Chamber of Commerce honored a number of area businesses at its 91st annual awards dinner, held at the Peabody-Essex Museum. More than 250 business and community members attended. Helen Medler and the late Anne Turcotte of Hawthorne Tours were jointly honored with the Businesswoman of the Year award. Turcotte died in March after battling cancer. Michael Wheeler, president of Beverly Cooperative Bank, took the honor of Businessman of the Year. The Excellence in Retail award was presented to the Peabody Essex Museum gift shop. John Hall, senior vice president of Salem Five bank, received the Community Service Award. The New Business of the Year award went to Jean-Louis Faber, owner of Jean-Louis Pasta Shop, while the Long Term Achievement Award was presented to Finz Seafood & Grill.
