Swampscott Town Meeting passes budget

Swampscott Town Meeting passed the fiscal year 2014 budget (including schools) of $58.3 million at the annual Town Meeting, held May 6-7. Meeting for five hours over the two nights, about 270 members approved a ban on leaf blowers on Monday, but reconsidered on Tuesday and overturned the ban. Town Meeting voters also postponed articles seeking to amend the town’s demolition delay bylaw and to purchase the 3.7-acre Phillips Beach.
