City to hold Memorial Day ceremony

The city is holding its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. on the lawn of the American Legion building, 249 Broadway. Retired Brigadier General Thomas J. Sellars, the assistant adjutant general and executive officer of the Massachusetts Military Division, will serve as guest speaker. Nicholas Bua, the city’s director of veterans’ services, will serve as master of ceremonies. Meanwhile, the city this Tuesday will hold the fourth in a series of recent ward-level community meetings to expand and reinvigorate neighborhood crime watch groups. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Jack Satter House, 420 Revere Beach Blvd. Though aimed primarily for Ward 5 residents, it is open to all. Mayor Daniel Rizzo is undertaking the crime watch initiative with support from his Neighborhood Advisory Council and community groups.
