Eleven people are scheduled to receive this year’s Gloucester Citizenship Awards at a public ceremony in Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, 10 Church St., on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. They are Dennis Acker, Rick Doucette, Roger Corbin, Newton Fink, Gloucester High senior Shannon Gallagher, the Rev. Ronald Gariboldi (retired from Holy Family Church), Paul Harling, Russell Hobbs, Sheldon “Don” Knowles, Karen Ristuben, and Diana Smith. Most of the winners volunteer for at least two charitable or community initiatives in the city. The awards are given annually to recognize those who contribute to the community and their neighbors, as selected by the church’s Social Justice Committee. This year, there were nearly 50 nominations submitted.
