A Lawrence native and Greater Lawrence Technical High School graduate has a new lease on life thanks to a remarkable Mother’s Day gift from her husband. Julie Brien Schiller had experienced kidney function issues since birth, but her health began to deteriorate quickly two years ago; she was told she would need a kidney transplant. After two surgeries were called off after complications prevented her from receiving a healthy kidney from either of her siblings, Schiller’s husband, Jon, was found to be a match.
