Mayor to honor dedicated citizens

Newburyport Mayor Donna Holaday is scheduled to host the Yankee Clipper Council, Boy Scouts of America Breakfast for Scouting on Wednesday to present Distinguished Service Awards to three citizens from the local community who have made outstanding contributions to Newburyport. The event will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Mission Oak Grill, 26 Green St., to honor Georgia Koulouras, who has dedicated many hours to helping poor and wounded veterans; Essex County Sheriff Frank G. Cousins Jr. for his efforts to promote youth leadership and end drug abuse; and Richard Eaton, a supporter of youth sports programs as well as academic and cultural initiatives. Proceeds from the breakfast will support the Yankee Clipper Council’s youth programs. The council serves children and young adults in 52 communities in northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Tickets are $50 per person.
