Open house recognizes retiring police chief

An open house and barbecue to honor retiring Amesbury Police Chief Mark Gagnon is scheduled for June 30 at the Amesbury Sports Park, on South Hunt Road, from 4 to 8 p.m. The dress code will be “relaxed, at the insistence of the chief,” said Acting Police Chief Kevin Ouellet, who added that there will be “no proclamations allowed.” Tickets are $30, and may be purchased from Lieutenant Jeffrey Worthen, Officer Tom Hanshaw, and administrative assistant Janet Milone at 978-388-1217, or by e-mailing Gagnon has worked for the department for 32 years; his official retirement date is June 30.
