An open house and barbecue to honor retiring Amesbury Police Chief Mark Gagnon is scheduled for June 30 at the Amesbury Sports Park, on South Hunt Road, from 4 to 8 p.m. The dress code will be “relaxed, at the insistence of the chief,” said Acting Police Chief Kevin Ouellet, who added that there will be “no proclamations allowed.” Tickets are $30, and may be purchased from Lieutenant Jeffrey Worthen, Officer Tom Hanshaw, and administrative assistant Janet Milone at 978-388-1217, or by e-mailing thomash@amesburyma.gov. Gagnon has worked for the department for 32 years; his official retirement date is June 30.
