The Chelmsford Farmers Market kicks off its sixth year Thursday with more than 30 vendors scheduled to participate this season. The weekly market operates on the Town Common from 2 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Oct. 3. Among the vendors scheduled to ply their wares this summer: Keyks bakery, the Meat House, and Bagel Alley. The farmers market is always in need of reliable help. Individuals interested in volunteering are asked to e-mail the market organizers at chelmsfordfarmersmarket@gmail.com. Opening day at the market also will feature a booth for Solarize Chelmsford. Stop by to find out how to enroll in Solarize Massachusetts, a grass-roots clean-energy marketing, education, and group-buying program. Run by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, the program is designed to increase the adoption of solar energy and further reduce the overall cost of solar power. The program offers residents and businesses discounted pricing for solar power. The more people in a municipality who participate, the greater the savings for everyone in that city or town. Carlisle and Chelmsford are participating in the program together. Those who are interested in the program but cannot make it to the farmers market may attend a public meeting on the program at 7 p.m. Thursday in Carlisle Town Hall, 66 Westford St..
