Northeastern University recently agreed to enhance its payment-in-lieu-of-taxes arrangement with Nahant. The university, which operates the Marine Science Center in town and awards a $20,000-per-year scholarship annually to a Nahant student, recently agreed to provide an additional $25,000 each year in payments and in-kind services. The new funds will support arts and music and provide technical support services for the Johnson School. The announcement was made at a June 20 Board of Selectmen’s meeting. “The town is very appreciative of Northeastern’s generosity,” said Andrew Bisignani, town administrator.
