Andover Chamber Music stretches its reach

Julie Scolnik, artistic director of Andover Chamber Music, says it is expanding its reach into Boston and changing its name to Mistral. Combining beloved masterpieces and newly discovered gems, the group presents most of its concerts in West Parish Church on Reservation Road in Andover. However, during the upcoming concert season, the musicians are also scheduled to perform four concerts in Boston. Founded in 1997 by Scolnik and her husband, Michael Brower, Andover Chamber Music’s dual mission has been to offer chamber music to cities and towns north of Boston and to provide accessible and affordable musical enrichment to children and their families, the elderly, and those with physical disabilities. The 2013-2014 concert season kicks off Sept. 21 with “Wanderlust: Postcards from Around the World,” at Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover and Sept. 23 at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. Pablo Ziegler, a Latin Grammy-winning pianist, will lead a 10-person ensemble in new compositions as well as dynamic classics by tango legends. For tickets or more information, visit .
