Groups unite to promote healthy lifestyles for children

Coca-Cola will be working with the city and the Boys & Girls Club of Middlesex County's Everett clubhouse to promote healthy lifestyles for children, in a partnership recently announced by Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. The partnership is part of a Coca-Cola program that sponsors projects in selected communities that teach youths ages 6 to 18 how to make positive food choices, enjoy sustained physical activity, and develop a sense of self-reliance. The project will launch later this summer with a field day at the old Everett High School field house. Other possible future programs with Coca-Cola include Everett's neighborhood parks competing for a $25,000 renovation grant through the company's "Take it to the Park" program. "We look forward to partnering with Coca-Cola and to any assistance they can provide for projects to help our kids stay active and involved," DeMaria said in a statement.
