Globe North: Players of the week

Nick Comei , Haverhill Post 4: The Worcester Polytechnic Institute-bound righty tossed a complete-game two-hitter, allowing just two earned runs in a 13-3 win over Lawrence American Legion Post 15 on July 21. He tore apart Post 15 offensively as well, with four hits — including a double and triple — and scored three runs in the lopsided victory.

Raymundo Gomes , Lynn Post 6: The lefty fired a one-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over Peabody Post 153 on July 19. The Lynn Classical rising senior struck out seven and walked one in the effort.

Edison Thayer , Middleton Post 227: From July 18-22, the first baseman went 8-for-15 at the plate with five RBIs. The Gordon College-bound 18-year-old also had a three-run homer in a 7-3 win over Swampscott Post 57 on July 19.

Matt Trotta , North Chelmsford Post 313: The 6-foot-1 lefty threw 12 innings, giving up 10 hits and eight walks, in what head coach Dan Ruggiero called a "gutsy performance." Trotta, who will play for Saint Anselm College next year, was finally relieved on the mound, and Post 313 won 7-6 in 13 innings.

Thomas Zarro , Billerica Post 268: The 6-foot-1 right fielder hit a walk-off two-run homer in a 3-2 win over Newton Post 440 on Monday, keeping Post 268 alive in the District 5 playoff hunt. He will play for the University of Southern Maine next year.
