The Peabody Institute Library is beginning its annual concert series. The library each year offers concerts in the late summer and fall. This year’s series will kick off on Aug. 15 with a performance by the North Shore Jazz Project All Stars, under the direction of Mike Tucker. The concert, featuring Brazilian bassist Ebinho Cardoso, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Wiggin Auditorium in City Hall. The concerts are normally held in the library’s Sutton Room, but the Aug. 15 one will take place at City Hall because of the space needed to accommodate the number of musicians involved. Library officials said that the auditorium is not air-conditioned, so in the event of extreme heat the concert will be moved to the Torigian Life Center, 79 Central St. The series is funded by the McCarthy Family Foundation, the Peabody Cultural Council, and the Peabody Institute Library Foundation. For a full list of concerts, go to the library’s website, www.peabodylibrary.org.. Those planning to attend a concert are asked to register in advance by calling 978-531-0100, ext. 10, or online through the website.
