Stoneham Theatre is kicking off its 14th season with a new director of development. Kathleen McDonald joined the award-winning theater in June. She comes to Stoneham Theatre from Salem State University, where she served as executive administrator of the Center for Creative and Performing Arts. She worked at Salem State for nine years and spent the past two years developing advancement communications strategies for a multimillion dollar campaign. Prior to her arts administration and fund-raising focus, McDonald spent several years working with Boston and Lynn students through college readiness programs. She holds a master’s degree in cultural studies from Simmons College and a bachelor’s from Salem State University. The theater’s new season starts with the Movin’ Out Band, which is slated to take the stage Aug. 24 for performances at 4 and 8 p.m. The Movin’ Out Band, the original band from the Tony Award-winning, Grammy-nominated Broadway musical, “Movin’ Out,” includes several members of Billy Joel’s band and is fronted by Wade Preston, the original “Piano Man” in the hit musical. Tickets are $45 to $60. For more information, or to order tickets, call the Stoneham Theatre box office at 781-279-2200, or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org.
