City closer to securing state funds for school construction

Woburn’s bid to secure state construction funds for Wyman Elementary School cleared another hurdle recently when the Massachusetts School Building Authority invited the city to begin studying different options for addressing the school’s needs. The city is seeking to combine the Wyman and Hurld elementary schools into one new or refurbished building. The City Council last February authorized $875,000 to fund the study. By agreeing to the study, the state School Building Authority committed to reimbursing the city for 50 percent of the study’s cost.
