Town offers online building permits

Andover is now offering licensed contractors and homeowners the ability to apply, pay for, and receive building, electrical, gas, plumbing, and mechanical permits online through ViewPermit. The online service is the first step in a plan to offer municipal permits and licenses electronically. The town’s Department of Community Development and Planning has made a public computer terminal available at the customer counter on the lower level of the Town Office Building at 36 Bartlet St. to allow homeowners and contractors to register for the service and apply for permits. The terminal is available during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Once registered, homeowners and contractors will be able to apply, pay for, and receive permits via the Internet from their home or office. For more information, contact the Department of Community Development & Planning at 978-623-8300 or by e-mail at
