On Saturday, the Angel Fund is holding its 12th annual Walk of Hope for ALS, a 3.5-mile walk around Lake Quannapowitt. Based in Wakefield, the Angel Fund is a nonprofit that supports research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at the Cecil B. Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. More commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease. Walk of Hope for ALS participants raise money through pledges. Walkers of all abilities are encouraged to take part as individuals or as members of a team. In addition to the walk, the event will include children’s activities and refreshments for walkers. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the Wakefield Common, with the walk set to begin at 11 a.m. For more information, go to www.theangelfund.org or call 781-245-7070.
