The Police Department moved to its new home last week, a $6 million station on Humphrey Street, vacating the Burrill Street station that was built in the 1930s. Construction was funded via a $3.35 million Proposition 2½ debt exclusion override passed in 2011 , with the rest paid for through other funding sources. The total project cost was $6.45 million. “It’s a beautiful station,” said Dave Castellarin, assistant town administrator, who said the new building was more attractive, technologically advanced, and safer for both prisoners and officers. “It’s something that was long overdue.”
