Somerville Post Office move receives board approval

A plan to move the post office in Somerville’s Union Square has received approval from the city’s Planning Board. The US Postal Service is looking to move from its 22,000-square-foot building at 237 Washington St. to a 10,000-square-foot storefront at 16 to 18 Bow St., currently the site of Parisian Style, a wig and hair product shop. The Planning Board approved the project unanimously on Aug. 13, determining the plans fall in line with design standards for the area, and that it would not have a significant effect on traffic. The Postal Service has put its current building up for sale for $2.4 million.
