The city has selected a company to oversee the demolition of its old transfer station in East Somerville. The Board of Aldermen awarded S&R Corp. of Lowell a $296,000 contract at its meeting Aug. 22. The station, at 10 Poplar St., was vacated by Waste Management at the end of July. The structure will be torn down and the entire site paved with asphalt when demolition is complete.
