Voters will head to the polls for the city’s preliminary election on Tuesday. Polls will be open across the city from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year, the only race requiring a preliminary is for Ward 5 councilor, but following its charter, Lynn holds preliminary balloting in all of its races. Included will be the high-profile race between Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy and her challenger, City Council president Timothy Phelan, and an eight-way race for council at large. Three candidates are contending for an open seat in the Ward 5 preliminary: Seth E. Albaum, Dianna Chakoutis, and Jake Keo. The final election is Nov. 5.
