City moves closer to buying new fire engines


Funding to buy two new fire engines and one truck has been approved. The city’s Board of Aldermen OK’d taking out a $2.3 million loan to buy the new vehicles, which will replace vehicles that are more than 18 years old. The loan was approved on Sept. 12. Aldermen also approved spending $120,000 on renovations to the Highland Avenue fire station.
