After a one-year break, the Melrose Dog Festival is back. It will be held next Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. in an area next to the dog park near Ell Pond on the Fellsway. Contests will be held for the cutest pooch and the dog owner who looks the most like his or her dog. Dogs that wear their registration tags will receive special prizes. The festival was canceled last year, in part because of competition from other fall dog shows and festivals. Games and prize giveaways are planned, along with tips on dog training. Proceeds from a raffle for door prizes will benefit the dog park. For more information, contact the Melrose Animal Control Office at 781-979-4102.
