The Revere Cares Coalition and students and teachers from Revere High School are inviting the community to join them for the annual Community Walk for Recovery next Sunday. The walk highlights prevention efforts among youths and shows support for community members who have lost a loved one due to substance abuse and addiction. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. at the Beachmont School. The event begins at 5:15 p.m. with a rally and speaking program that will kick off the 2013-2014 Above the Influence antisubstance-abuse campaign at Revere’s High School and Middle School. The walk will then proceed from the school to the Revere Beach Memorial, where a candlelight vigil remembering those whose lives have been cut short due to alcohol and other drugs will be held at 7 p.m. For more information, call 781-485-6404. Meanwhile, on Saturday at 11 a.m., the Beachmont Improvement Committee is inviting the public to a dedication ceremony marking the official opening of the new Beachmont Community Park at Douglas Cummings Square.
