Traffic commission reviewing parking policies

Malden’s traffic commission will begin a review this week of the city’s parking enforcement policies during street sweeping and snow plowing. City Council president Neal Anderson wants the commission to consider implementing a strict policy of ticketing and towing vehicles that obstruct sweeping and plowing. In a meeting earlier this month, Anderson said councilors often receive complaints from residents about unswept streets, and it is typically the result of one or more parked cars blocking the side of the road to be swept. Anderson submitted a resolution, which was approved without objection, to have the traffic commission review the parking enforcement policy. The commission is slated to meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in room 418 at Malden Government Center.
