Candidates forums set for Oct. 16 and 23

The Democratic Ward and City Committee will hold two forums this month for candidates in the Nov. 5 municipal election. The first forum, featuring candidates for mayor and School Committee, will be held on Oct. 16, a forum for City Council candidates will be held on Oct. 23. Each forum will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at City Hall. The six School Committee members are running unopposed, and there are seven challengers for the nine-member City Council. Mayor Michael J. McGlynn, who is seeking a 13th term, is being challenged by Anthony D’Antonio. The forums, which are open to the public, will be broadcast live on local cable television.
