Selectmen vote to join Eastern Essex for veterans services

Selectmen have voted to join the Eastern Essex District for its veterans services. Initially formed in 1964 and centered in Ipswich, the district covers seven towns: Ipswich, Essex, Hamilton, Wenham, Rowley, Georgetown, and West Newbury. Officials had been mulling two proposals to regionalize and streamline its veterans services — joining the Eastern Essex District or entering into an intermunicipal agreement with Newburyport, Salisbury, Amesbury, and Merrimac and continuing to work with current agent Kevin Hunt. The agent for the Eastern Essex District is Terry Hart.
