The 12th annual So Sweet Chocolate & Ice Sculpture Festival will be held starting Frivday and running through Feb. 16. A joint initiative of Salem Main Streets, the Salem Chamber of Commerce, Destination Salem, and local businesses, the winter festival kicks off with a chocolate and wine tasting on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas, 227 Essex St. Tickets for that event are $25 and must be purchased in advance. Starting on Saturday, 14 large ice sculptures will be on display downtown. Many restaurants will have special chocolate offerings on their menus, while participating retailers will have in-store promotions, chocolate samples, and displays and items geared to chocolate and Valentine’s Day. The Salem Trolley will be offering rides around the festival route, weather permitting, on Feb. 8 and 9 for a minimal fee. Residents can take part in a free raffle to win a gift basket For more information about special store and restaurant offerings and or to purchase tickets for the chocolate and wine tasting, go to www.salemmainstreets.org or to www.facebook.com/salemsosweet.
