DPW lining up road improvements

The Department of Public Works has scheduled about $2 million worth of repaving under last year’s road improvement program, according to town engineer Thomas Hayes. Contractors will repave all or portions of 16 roads. Eleven of those roads are undergoing simple resurfacing while five are being reconstructed. The program also involves maintenance work, which includes resealing cracks and applying a thin surface layer, to 18 roads. The town is set to award bids in the next few weeks, and the work is expected to begin in mid-June and be completed by mid-September. The repairs will be underwritten through a combination of town funds and state grants through its Chapter 90 local road improvement program.
