June 19 deadline for new town planner


June 19 is the deadline as Essex seeks applicants for a newly created five-hour-a-week town planner, funded for the first time by a Town Meeting vote in May. The position involves broad planning and grant-writing support for several Essex boards and committees, although the planner will report to the Board of Selectmen and/or the town administrator. The starting hourly wage will be $28 to $40, commensurate with experience. A bachelor’s degree in planning or municipal or urban planning with three years of work experience in the municipal or urban planning field is required.
