The public library’s summer hours begin on Sunday. From now through Sept. 6 the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. It will be closed Sundays, as well as for holidays on July 4-5 and Aug. 30-Sept. 1. Meanwhile, the library is inviting residents to take part in its summer reading programs for adults, children, and teens. Each program is based on science themes developed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency. All three programs offer participants the chance to win prizes based on how many books they read. The teen and children’s programs will also feature special events, beginning with a kick-off on June 26, with activities for children at 10 a.m. and for teens at 2:30 p.m. For more information, go to the library’s website, www.burlingtonpubliclibrary.org.
