Town holds groundbreaking ceremony for library

On June 6, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new Salisbury library. The low bid for construction, made by Castagna Construction Corp. of Newburyport, came in at $5.7 million, $400,000 less than anticipated to build the structure, according to Town Manager Neil Harrington. The original estimate for the project, including design and other elements, was $7.5 million, with $3.87 million paid for via state grant, and $750,000 to $800,000 in private money, including $500,000 from the Institution for Savings. Officials said they are hopeful that the library will be completed by Labor Day 2015.
