Somerville Housing Authority seeks new board member

The Somerville Housing Authority is seeking a new member for its board of commissioners. The authority, a quasi-independent agency that provides access to subsidized housing for eligible low- and moderate-income families and seniors, oversees about 1,400 units of affordable public housing as well as federal and state voucher subsidy programs. Its board typically meets once a month and reviews a report on financials, data on its housing units and programs, and policy revisions. Commissioners are appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the Somerville Board of Aldermen, and serve five-year terms with a stipend. This vacancy will fill a partially completed term that will expire in 2018. Candidates must live in Somerville. To apply, send a written statement of interest and resume to BlancaB@sha-web.org or the Somerville Housing Authority, 30 Memorial Road, Somerville, MA 02145. Statements and resumes are due by Aug. 21. Questions can be directed to the authority at 617-625-1152 or to BlancaB@sha-web.org.
