This year, more than 530 nominations were received across 10 award categories. Djoko is one of three finalists for the civic leader award. The winners in each category and an overall winner will be announced and all finalists honored at the annual gala Aug. 19 at the San Diego Zoo.

A native of Cameroon, Djoko works at CVS in Swampscott. In addition to serving on the Danvers Committee on Diversity, Djoko is a member of the board of DanversCares, a coalition that works to prevent substance abuse in town, according to Susan Fletcher, the town’s assistant director of planning and human services.

Djoko has written articles on drugs and the dangers associated with them for the DanversCares newsletters and has served as a speaker at the high school on topics such as prescription drug abuse. He has also participated at the high school career fair, encouraging students to consider a medical field.
