RCN Telecom Services has applied for a license to offer its cable television services in Revere. A public hearing on the license request will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, in the City Council chambers at City Hall. Currently, Comcast is Revere’s sole cable provider. Should RCN be granted a license, local consumers could have the choice of two companies for the service. After Tuesday’s hearing, city officials will seek to finalize a licensing agreement with RCN. Comcast also has applied to renew its existing license with the city. A public hearing on that application was held earlier this month.John Laidler can be reached at email@example.com.
