The School Building Committee and School Committee have set a new project schedule for the Ipswich elementary school building project. Major deadlines include Nov. 9 for the preferred schematic report to be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, followed by meetings with the authority on Nov. 15 and Nov. 28. The state agency, which provides funding for approved school projects, is scheduled to vote Dec. 13 on the project’s scope and budget. Pending approval, Town Meeting will consider the proposal in May, followed by a townwide vote on whether to fund Ipswich’s share of the estimated $66.4 million project. In July, the School Committee voted to move forward with feasibility studies and design work for one town elementary school at the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School site on Linebrook Road. Some in town favor repairing both the Doyon and Winthrop elementary schools. The next meeting to review site issues is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Town Hall.
