Some of the highlights of the 199th Topsfield Fair, which opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, and runs through Oct. 9. Regular fair hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., weather permitting.
Giant Pumpkin Contest: Weigh-in begins at 4 p.m. Sept. 29 with winners announced around 9 p.m.
Concerts (free with paid admission): The Reminisants Oct. 2; The BaHa Brothers Band Oct. 3; Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone (Oct. 4); Village People (Oct. 5); High Valley (Oct. 6); Cassadee Pope (Oct. 7). Plus Disney’s Choo-Choo Soul “With Genevieve!” (Oct. 7); tickets are $15 in addition to fair admission.
Shows:(free with paid admission): Dock Dogs (Sept. 29 - Oct. 1); New England Rodeo (Oct. 4 - 5); Flying Wallendas (Oct. 7 - 9)
Monster Trucks Freestyle & Demolition Derby: (Sept. 30, 4 and 7 p.m.) Tickets are $15 in addition to fair admission.
Racing pigs: They don’t just run the track for the Oreo prize, they also dive into a pool. Three shows daily; free with admission.
Fair admission: Tickets are $11 each Sept. 29 and Oct. 2-5; $15 on Oct. 6, weekends, and Columbus Day (Oct. 9). Children under 8 with an adult are free. Discount admission tickets are available to purchase online through Sept. 25: general admission for any one day, $9; three-day pass for $25, good for any three days. Parking: In addition to the lot on the fairgrounds, there’s a lot for 600 cars about a half-mile south on Route 1, with shuttle buses to the fair. Cost for both lots is $10. There also is parking and shuttle buses from North Shore Community College’s Danvers campus, 1 Ferncroft Road, for $5.
