Swampscott residents have a chance to give input into the design of the town’s proposed rail trail from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the high school. The event is being organized as an open house, so participants can come at any point to share their thoughts. Swampscott recently selected Stantec Consulting Services of Burlington to design and complete engineering work for the project. The trail would run along the existing National Grid utility corridor for about 2 miles, starting at Stetson Avenue east through the middle of Swampscott to the Marblehead town line, where it would connect to the Marblehead Rail Trail. At Thursday’s session, community members will be able to view maps of the former rail bed and talk to the design engineers.John Laidler can be reached at email@example.com.
