Commons construction

"Every indication'' suggests that Sharon Commons, a shopping center planned near Interstate 95, will begin construction in the spring, Town Administrator Benjamin Puritz said. The project has been delayed for a number of years by the downturn in the economy, he said. Anchor stores slated to open in the approximately 450,000-square-foot shopping center include a Target and a BJ's Wholesale Club. A different developer plans to build homes on the adjacent land. Puritz said the residential development cannot begin until the road for the shopping center establishes access to the land. - Jennette Barnes
