Preservation projects

The Community Preservation Committee has voted to recommend funding for a variety of projects, including a $200,000 grant to Crossroads for Kids to preserve the Isaac Keene Barn and its cupola. Committee members said the cupola contributes to the historical significance of the barn. The grant requires the camp for at-risk youngsters to provide a 100 percent match. The committee also voted to spend $7,600 on ground-penetrating radar to find the original foundation of the town’s First Meeting House on Chestnut Street and place granite markers at its four corners and signs on the site. All expenditures of Community Preservation Act funds require Town Meeting approval. - Robert Knox
