PEMBROKE

Skating area opens

The town is holding a grand opening of the free Pembroke Outdoor Community Skating Surface next Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. The Recreation Department will be holding its first supervised family skating time at the site, located on a section of the town green. In the event of poor weather or lack of ice, the opening will occur the following Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. The department created the skating surface in December with the help of volunteers. The department plans to hold supervised family skating times each Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. The skating area will be open to the general public at all other times, except early morning hours, when it will be reserved for hockey teams. - John Laidler
